Are your bookings or sales where you want/need them to be?
A couple of weeks ago I shared the “What is personal branding photography”? article and as a result I’ve had quite a few, “sounds great but I’m a small business, so how could it help me personally when budgets are tight and financial investments need to be carefully considered?” conversations. The short answer is, if you have a robust business and marketing plan, clearly identified target client and you know that the service/products that you offer are what they want, but you still don’t have the bookings/sales that you believe are achievable, then it looks like you have a marketing problem. Professional personal branding photography can help you with that. Yes, really!
Professional personal branding sessions can help you stand out in 3 ways
We live in a visual world and whether we like it or not, most of us have LOTS of competition. So why should someone book you over one of your competitors? You know you’re different (you’d hardly have set up a business to be the same now would you?!) but do your clients know what makes you special? How do you even go about marketing to them? These 3 simple sense checks help you communicate your brand resonate with your target clients.
Define your USP
Are you making your unique difference clear to your clients? You know what it is, but do they? I am unusual for a personal branding photographer in that I have a sales and marketing background. Yup, pretty useful for my clients. Did you hear me say that this is unusual? Of course I talk about this when I meet people, it’s a brilliant USP! That won’t benefit everyone, but the for the potential clients who know they need help in this area, they’ll subconsciously pick me out as being the best choice for them as its something that makes me very different to the numerous other talented photographers.
Is your brand COHESIVE?
Does your branding speak the language of your business? This can be your colours, the words you use, the imagery that you share, the quality of your materials and so on. If you want a strong brand identity then all aspects needs to seamlessly complement each other and combined, tell the story of your brand identity. When you have mastered this and everything is cohesive, you need …..
CONSISTENT brand messaging
Everything to do with your business needs to be consistent, if it’s not, generating strong brand awareness in a crowded market will be neigh on impossible. This means that every avenue in which you interact with customers needs to be aligned and on message. Your website, social media channels, print media and face to face interactions need to repeatedly reinforce your unique, cohesive messages so that your potential customers can understand who you are. Inconsistencies can create confusion and according to research “a confused mind says no”.
