Creating your artwork
Prints are allowed to cure for 24 hours before being laminated using museum grade varnish. This varnish is completely matt and doesn’t detract from the beauty and texture of your canvas, but it does provide protection from scuffs and moisture.
This coating allows you to wipe the canvas with a slightly damp cloth if required. The veneer also prevents the print from cracking. Your canvas will have an archival life of over 100 years!
What this means in layman’s terms is that you get the beautiful soft feel of a canvas but with maximum definition! Cheap canvas’ can lose all depth and detail, these are tack sharp - come and see them for yourself - they’re stunning!
What about the structure, what stops them from warping like the cheap ones I ordered online?
The stretcher bars integral frame that forms the shape of the canvas’) are finger jointed from the best grade European Redwood Pine which means that the bars are clean, dry, knot and spore free as well as being strong and straight with a significantly reduced chance of warping over time.
So do I just hang them and forget them?
Almost. The humidity in our homes fluctuates throughout the year and as a result the wood will slightly expand and contract. This may lead to your canvas becoming slightly looser than when you first hung it. That’s why the stretcher bars are fitted with wedges to allow for gentle adjustment. Cheap stapled canvas’ don’t have this option which is one of the reasons they become loose and saggy over time.
A metal hanger is fixed to the back (multiple for larger canvases) to make hanging your canvas a breeze. Backing tape and felt bumpers are also applied for a quality finish and to protect your paintwork.
